Newspaper Layout and Article Techniques

Wanting to lay out my selected Daily Mash articles convincingly I looked at a number of UK newspapers to learn typographic and page elements to use when laying out the articles. 

Knock Out Quotes:

Over-sized Leading Characters

Bold Slab Serif Type for Headlines:

Dotted dividers for smaller stories.

Section Headings & Horizontal Lines:

Large Heavy San-Serif for Impact:

Reversed Out Headlines

Headline Within Body Copy:

 

Single Column Article:

Using these elements when designing the layout for each article will make them look convincing, as if they have been torn out of a real newspaper.
